Hasselblad X1D

Original Hasselblad

From the legendary Swedish photography company that brought us many great & timeless products such as:

Original Hasselblad

And more recent products such as this beauty:

We now have a new medium format camera that is mirrorless and somewhat affordable (depending who you ask)!

Meet The Hasselblad X1D – 50C

This camera was called a “game changer” by the company and we believe that to be true. The size alone makes the system the most portable medium format camera on the market.

This appears to be quite a break thru and we suspect Sony has greatly helped achieve this feat. They are responsible for the revolutionary Sony RX-1 design and we suspect this product will have a similar legacy and impact on the market.

Hasselblad X1D – 50C Cost & Specs

The MSRP is $8895. Now many of you will saw, “That’s the cost of a car!” We agree it is very pricey but the amount of units Hasselblad will produce will be limited and keep in mind similar medium format systems use to run around $35,000 just a few years ago.

Sony has provided a 44×33 sensor for this system.

Hasselblad X1D – 50C Lens

These lens are reasonably priced considering some Canon lens will run you about $2,000.

Hasselblad X1D – 50C Conclusion

This product definitely isn’t for EVERYBODY. If you value the highest image quality in a compact form factor and state of the art technology, this is worth checking out. For gods sake, this is the company that Neil Armstrong took the shots on the moon! Its the best of the best and like any luxury item, each person will have to rationalize their decision to purchase but we feel strongly the buyer remorse will be very minimal. Good Luck!
