Simone Biles Floor Routine 2016

Perfect Performance

The 4-time national champion just completed a near perfect floor routine, as you can see both days below, but we feel its imperative to give the back story of her path to such a powerful and flawless performance at 2016 P&G Gymnastics Championships.

Nastia Liukin’s first statement after Biles day 1 routine was the following “Well, it doesn’t really get much better than that.” As a former Olympic champion, she knows the degree of difficulty it takes to master this sport at the highest level and that sort of praise only elevated Biles’ expectation for this summer’s Rio games.

Let’s take a closer look at the journey that brought this special 4″9 (her height) athlete into the international spotlight and a step closer to Olympic Glory.

Who is Simone Biles?

Simone Arianne Biles was born on March 14, 1997 in Columbus, Ohio. Simone’s grandparents, Ronald and Nellie Biles, adopted Simone and her sister Adria, who is also a gymnast.

She has two brothers named Ronald and Adam. Biles graduated from high school in the summer of 2015. She was home schooled for half of her education.

Biles verbally committed to UCLA on August 4, 2014, announcing her decision on Twitter. She planned to defer enrollment until after the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. On July 29, 2015, she announced that she would turn professional, forfeiting her NCAA eligibility.

Simone broke on the international and national scene in 2013 winning the U.S. & World All-Around Woman Gymnastic Championships. She was so dominating on the floor routine, she has a pass named the “Biles” now. What separates her form the competition is the height and specular lift she achieves in the air.

After her dominating floor routine at this 2016 U.S. Olympic trials, Simone Biles Youtube video (as shown above) went viral. Her performance showed the excellence this 19 year old has received due to her dedication and natural ability in the sport. She is an extraordinary favorite to win gold in Rio and the world will be watching every vault, tumble & floor routine this summer.

  1. Holy cow! The only gymnast I’ve seen who doesn’t pause to collect herself before a tumbling pass. Wow.

I read that about a dozen Olympic sports including gymnastics will be filmed in… 360? Virtual reality? so viewers can get a fuller effect. Dang. Can’t wait!
